Barb Schubert Award

Kara Betts, 2024 winner of the Barb Schubert Award

This award for a beginning teacher (0-4 years experience) recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional literacy interactions with students and families, utilizes a carefully-planned, rich curriculum, encourages and participates in professional collaboration, and implements innovative pedagogy.

High School Teacher of Excellence Award

Shannon Johnson – High School Teacher of Excellence

The High School Teacher of Excellence recipient demonstrates exceptional literacy interaction with students and families, utilizes a carefully-planned, rich curriculum, encourages and participates in professional collaboration, and implements innovative pedagogy. This award recognizes an excellent veteran (5+) high school language arts teacher.

Middle School Teacher of Excellence Award

This award recognizes an excellent veteran (5+) middle school language arts teacher who exemplifies exceptional literacy interaction with students and families, utilizes a carefully-planned, rich curriculum, encourages and participates in professional collaboration, and implements innovative pedagogy.

Friend of Literacy Award 

Erin Becker, winner of the 2024 Friend of Literacy Award

Nominees for this award encourage exploration and engagement in literacy pursuits by donating time or financial support, removing barriers, and/or providing other sources.

Distinguished Service Award

This recipient is an instructional leader whose service to English/language arts has contributed significantly with local, regional, state, and/or national impact in his/her own school district, area education agency, college, or other institution.
