Empower: We are our Greatest Resource

Thursday:

Michelle Fowler-Amato and Amber Warrington are English Educators committed to honoring the expertise that classroom teachers bring by showing us how to take professional development into our own hands.

Their book, Disruption Through Design: Professional Learning that Empowers and Ignites Change, “provides approaches to designing curriculum, instruction, and assessment that value students’ literacies, languages, and lives” (NCTE).

(I had the opportunity to learn from the pair firsthand at NCTE last fall and can promise you an engaging keynote that will leave you fired up and inspired in the best way! – Emily)

Friday:

Julia E. Torres is coming! She is a veteran classroom ELA teacher AND librarian, whose expertise in all things literacy is only matched by her commitment to uplifting educators and students.

If you don’t know Ms. Torres, she is an award-winner, author, and advocate whose “practice is grounded in the work of empowering students to use language arts to fuel positive change in their lives and communities” (More Here).

We are thrilled to host Julia and share her wisdom with our favorite folks (you all!).

ICTE knows that our educators are brilliant. We also know that some of us are worn out, worried, but also ready to take action both within and beyond our classrooms. This year’s conference is here for you and ready to make sure you leave truly EMPOWERED.
